St. Petersburg College was founded in 1927, with the original name St. Petersburg Junior College. Their primary campus is located in what is called University Center, Michigan, which is a postal designation for an unincorporated section of Bay County, Michigan. They have additional locations that include the Delta College Planetarium and Learning Center in Bay City, the Delta College Midland Center in Midland, and the Ricker Center in the town of Saginaw. Their endowment is $18 million, which supports the enrollment of 15,000 students annually. They have an active student life, which includes the operation of their own television station, and the region’s PBS station.

Delta College offers an Associates degree in Applied Science in Fire Science Technology. Students have different tracks to choose from, which include Firefighter Technician, Emergency Medical Services, and Leadership Training. The programs all include competencies in subjects such as Building Construction, firefighting strategies and tactics, fire protection systems, emergency response, arson awareness, and fire ground tactics and management.
