Top-50-Best-Value-Online-MBA-Programs-of-2015It’s a scenario more people find themselves in these days: you have a lower-level position in a company that you like working for, or a field you feel fits you, and you can see yourself moving farther, but you’re lacking that one thing that you need to advance: an MBA. You like where you live, and maybe your family is comfortable and settled, so uprooting them and moving somewhere for a 1 to 2 year program is not an option. What do you do?

Follow the path thousands of other students are taking and get your degree online. Now obviously, an online degree isn’t for everyone; you need to be self-motivated, ambitious, and comfortable with technology. But for working adults who want the convenience of earning a degree on their own time, and the flexibility to work around their schedule and keep their current job, online is the way to go. Any concerns about the real value of an online degree belong to the past; reputable, world-class institutions are offering online MBA’s that have the same quality as their traditional, on-campus degree program.

Plus, many of the best schools, such as those on this list, have developed innovative ways to combat the limitations of older online methods by using cohort formats, connecting students with one-on-one advisors or mentors, and providing opportunities for students to engage in the kind of networking and relationship-building that traditional MBA programs excel in. With live-streaming, video conferencing, and other technological advancements, online degrees no longer have to be alienating or lonely; they can be as exciting and engaging as any other online social activity.

The most impressive thing about Kansas State’s program, though, is that they recognize the limitations of the online format and work hard to correct those potential problems. For one, all students are required to take an international business trip, like many traditional, on-campus programs. The Professional MBA helps students develop a personal professional development plan so students can concentrate on how they want their education to shape their career. A two-day student orientation allows students to get to know one another and their professors, as well as building a sense of themselves as members of a team, as traditional programs strive to do. Finally, students are given opportunities to network with alumni, just like in traditional MBAs, building connections that, for many students, are the most important part of the education. It’s no wonder that, with all those considerations, plus a reasonable tuition cost, that KSU sits in our top fifty.

Wyoming: wide open spaces, ranches, cattle, and cowboys – and a top value, online MBA program. So don’t polish up those boots just yet; you don’t have to even visit the Cowboy State to get a degree from the University of Wyoming College of Business. Like other universities in large, spread-out western states (Colorado, Idaho, and Utah, for instance), U-Dub (as students and fans like to call it) has spent a lot of time developing distance education programs, and the quality of its online MBA is an example. Courses are designed in a cohort format, so students learn to work with a team throughout their online education, and UW provides numerous networking opportunities. While resident tuition is incredibly low, the out-of-state tuition isn’t much higher, helping to increase UW’s overall value.
